Oats
Iron, fiber, slow energy
Whole oats give steady, lasting energy instead of a sugar spike and crash, plus iron, which many moms run low on after blood loss at birth.
Nourishing cookies for new moms, baked in Austin. Oats, flaxseed, and brewer's yeast in a cookie you can eat with one hand while the other holds the baby.
When we were expecting our son, our 94 year old grandmother baked us cookies. Lots of them.
They got us through the pregnancy and the blurry first weeks after. So when neighbors in Austin had babies of their own, we started showing up with a batch.
Then friends of neighbors started asking. Then their friends. Our son is two now, the recipe hasn't changed much, and Four Mama is how we keep bringing those cookies to new moms across the city.
Every Four Mama cookie is built around the same trio found in traditional lactation recipes, chosen for what they bring to a body recovering from birth and feeding a newborn.
Iron, fiber, slow energy
Whole oats give steady, lasting energy instead of a sugar spike and crash, plus iron, which many moms run low on after blood loss at birth.
Omega-3s, fiber
We use ground flax so the nutrients are easier to absorb. It's one of the richest plant sources of ALA omega-3 fats, and its fiber is gentle on postpartum digestion.
B vitamins, protein, minerals
Not the bread kind. Brewer's yeast is packed with B vitamins that support energy, plus protein, iron, and zinc. We bake it in so you get the nutrition without the bitter taste.
That's all you'll have free for a while. Our cookies are sized and baked to be eaten mid-feed, mid-rock, or standing at the counter at 3am. No plate, no prep, no crumbs down the baby.
The first twelve weeks after birth ask a lot of a mom's body. She's healing, often short on sleep and iron, and if she's breastfeeding she needs extra calories every day. Meals get skipped. Snacks become dinner.
Four Mama exists so the snack that becomes dinner is actually nourishing. We focus on feeding the mom, because she's the one everyone forgets to feed.
A straight answer: no single food is proven to increase milk supply, and our cookies aren't medicine. What they are is real, nutrient-dense food made with care. For supply concerns, a lactation consultant or your doctor is the best place to start.
Skip the fifth baby blanket. Send something she'll reach for every day.
A single welcome box, or weekly deliveries through her first month home.
We handwrite it and tuck it in the box, so it arrives from you.
Baked that week and dropped at her door anywhere in the Austin area.

No. They're made for every new mom, however she feeds her baby. The oats, flax, and brewer's yeast are wholesome foods, and they're safe for anyone in the house to eat. Partners have been known to steal a few.
Most moms enjoy one or two a day as a snack alongside regular meals. Think of them as part of a good postpartum diet, not a replacement for one.
About a week in an airtight container at room temperature, or up to three months in the freezer. They thaw on the counter in about twenty minutes.
